Los Angeles-based brass musician Beth Mitchell enjoys an active freelance career performing with the local orchestras and in the film studios; playing solo and chamber recitals around town, and regularly touring internationally, playing recitals and teaching around the world.

Before settling in Los Angeles, Mitchell was the principal tubist with the Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra in San Francisco, and has played with respected and well-known ensembles, including:

  • Baltimore Symphony Orchestra,
  • The Pacific Symphony Orchestra
  • Opera Pacific
  • The Orchesta Sinfonica de Monterrey
  • Germany’s Eurobrass
  • The United States Navy Band
  • The United States Army Band.

Mitchell studied tuba at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, studying under David Fedderly, Tommy Johnson, Jim Self, and Roger Bobo.

Mitchell is also part of the Israeli/American combo TubaChique, is a subbing member of the Disneyland Band, and is currently on the faculties of Pasadena City College, Biola University, Cerritos College, and Master’s University.
