Tony Clements started his tuba studies at the age of 7 in Lindenhurst, New York, where he was taught by Julius Rubin, a freelance trombonist, and later by Bill Barber, who was a member of the Gil Evans Band.
At the age of 14, he moved to Modesto, California, with his parents where he attended Thomas Downey High School.

As well as many freelance orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What’s more, in 2001, Clements became the Conductor of the Ohlone Wind Orchestra.
Clements has enjoyed many teaching positions throughout his extensive career, including Stanford University, Cal State East Bay (where he was Director of Bands for the 2006-07 school year) and Ohlone College, where he directs the 30-member Tuba Union of the Bay Area, a tuba ensemble comprised of local tubists.
In September 2007, Clements was named Director of Bands at Ohlone College, adding the Ohlone Community Band to his duties.
Clements holds demonstrations of Wessex Tubas’ instruments and is happy to invite interested musicians to play test his collection.
